Infogram on the History of Music Videos
I created a history for music videos to help with my NEA if I pick the music video option.
This is the link to a video to explain the 'rick roll': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMW4AqbuSGg
For some extra research, I looked at a few music videos that piqued my interest
Saccharine - Jazmine Bean (blood + swearing)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFCkZbpDN0I
One of the most interesting things I found was the limited colour palette use, rarely using colours outside of white, pastel pink, and red until the scene in the park. I was looking mainly for how many different scenes there were, and this video showed me how only three main scenes were used - the dentist office, the view from inside Jazmine's mouth, and the park.
Psycho - Mia Rodriquez
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGgOz_gRD_c
I loved the use of colour within this video, but I focused mainly on the chorus featuring Mia with the unconventional use of a fish eye lens to convey the feeling of looking directly inside her head. The use of colour shows the difference between Mia and others (binary opposites: sane vs psycho), making Mia's bold pink stand out in the beginning to the dull neutral colours and positive yellow. As the video goes on, the colours get progressively brighter and more saturated, which was an interesting choice- maybe showing how her actions effect the people around her and these actions build up until she gets hit with the consequences.. literally.
Upside Down - Elliot Lee (flashing lights)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xk9hgrm0nSI
If the brief aligns with my ideas, then this is the song I wish to make my music video on. Similar to the last music videos, my favourite part of the music video is the usage of colours, specifically in the beginning of the video.

Magazine Practise
I created a Big Issue front cover in an hour. This is the final result:
This is the cover I created. I based it off this cover in both layout and image placement:
I also based the idea of the cover to be about houseless Dogs after I read the Christmas special:
The idea was also inspired off of the Dogs Are For Life, Not Just For Christmas movement. I took the main image from the Dogs Trust website, with the idea that my cover would be a colab with Dogs Trust, hence the yellow colour scheme. I paired the yellow with the red, because red is an eye catching colour and contrasts well with the yellow. The main image has a slightly less good quality than I'd have liked, but because this was just a practise and I was running out of time I made the decision to use this image. I knew that I could encorporate it well into a front cover due to it's simplicity

Beauty Advert
Beauty Advert
I took the picture of this on the bus with a rainy background to connote that the audience can feel beautiful no matter where they are, or what the circumstances are. The use of a hashtag at the bottom of the advert helps create an active audience, as the audience will be able to use the hashtag to promote Suddenly Fragrance. I tried to use a simple colour palette, with oranges and yellows being used to stand out and contrast against the background grey-blue. However, the foreground needs to be more distinguished from the background

Advert for SHSG 6th Form
SHSG 6th Form Advert
After studying former SHSG 6th form adverts, I noticed a convention of using an image of the headteacher at the centre bottom of the advert. I tried to use a shot using depth of field, however I do need to work on the blurring effect. A halo effect was attempted around the headteacher, I used an airbrush to help him glow. It didn't make the intended effect, but helps make the image stand out.
